Description

The cake-mixing ceremony is a deeply-rooted custom honoured across our four campuses, including Kolkata, Ranchi Bhubaneshwar, and Shillong. NIPS School of Hotel Management, Bhubaneswar, hosted a 2-hour long ceremony on December 13, 2024. We had the honour to welcome remarkable individuals, including Mr Ashirbad Praharaj (General Manager, Taj Vivanta), Mr Uday Shankar Swain (HR Manager, Taj Vivanta), Ms Shreya Mukherjee (Learning & Development Manager, IHCL Crown), and Mr Soham Behura (Assistant HR Manager, ITC Welcome Group). Prominent educators, such as Ms Namrata Singh (Principal, Shree Krishna International School) and Mr Santosh Kumar Bal (Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 5). We had our founding members, Founder & Director Dr Vivek Pathak, Director Mrs Arunima Sen Pathak, and Celebrity Chef and Deputy Director, Mr Joseph Uttam Gomes joining the program.
The ceremony began at 2 pm, with a warm welcome and an introduction to the tradition of cake mixing and hospitality values. We invited our guests, parents, students, and faculty to participate in mixing dry fruits, nuts, spices, and aromatic ingredients to begin the Christmas festivities. Our students and parents found a great opportunity to hold interactive discussions with industry leaders and educators. They shared their experience and wisdom offering students valuable insights, strengthening ties between the hospitality industry and academia. The ceremony concluded on a sweet note with a vote of thanks and refreshments allowing everyone to build connection beyond the formal setting.
